(London, Ontario) – Over the last few days, some Fanshawe employees have been getting soaked with buckets of ice water participating in the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge. Fanshawe's Manager of Athletics, Nathan McFadden, accepted his nomination for the Challenge (Click here for Nathan's video) from Fanshawe Student Union Business Manager Paul Masse (Click here for Paul's video).
For those who don't know, it is a viral movement that involves people having buckets of ice water dumped onto them on video, posting that video to social media, then nominating others to do the same – all in an effort to raise ALS awareness. Those who refuse to take the challenge within 24 hours are asked to make a donation to ALS.
The ALS Association posted on their website that as of Monday, August 25, the organization has received $79.7 million dollars in donations compared to $2.5 million during the same time period last year (July 29 to August 25). These donations have come from existing donors and 1.7 million new donors to The Association.
