Fanshawe CTS and Festo Didactic kicked off their new partnership with a joint presentation on Industry 4.0 at the Manufacturing Matters conference. Industry 4.0 places a high value on clean technology, robotics and transforming traditional factories into smart ones using the Internet of Things (IoT) and cloud computing.
"Festo Didactic is excited to work with Fanshawe College, Corporate Training Solutions (CTS) and provide the opportunity for students to learn the skills and gain practical experience that today's employers demand," says Greg James, regional sales manager, Festo Didactic. "This partnership is a great example of industry and education working together to support capacity development in the manufacturing sector."
Festo Didactic provides technical education solutions to government and educational institutions and industrial companies. The company trains more than 42,000 participants world-wide annually and has a long history of providing industry training courses in the areas of pneumatics, hydraulics, mechatronics and manufacturing processes within Canada.
Fanshawe CTS focuses on making clients better by specializing in industry-focused training and services that equip employees with the knowledge, skills and expertise needed to succeed in their day-to-day work, to advance in their careers and to build organizational capacity. CTS determines and meets the needs of all sectors while focusing specifically on supporting the expansion of advanced manufacturing and Industry 4.0 technologies in the region.
The Fanshawe CTS/Festo Didactic partnership is focused on exploring potential training and certification programs; sharing content and resources; a joint participation in the local Specialized High Skills Major pilot program; and planning Industry 4.0 technical training.
"This mutually beneficial partnership aims to better support the manufacturing sector with training courses in Advanced Manufacturing," says Bruce Smith, executive director, Corporate Strategy and Business Development.
"CTS is very excited to be working with Festo Didactic to help bridge training gaps in the manufacturing sector to support the future growth of industry within our community," says Candace Miller, senior manager, Strategic Initiatives and Business development.
Fanshawe CTS and Festo plan to offer free webinars late this year to educate and provide manufacturers with knowledge on how to build their capacity development for Industry 4.0.
