Kovacevic, Mendes win Women's and Men's honours respectively

(London, Ontario) – On Wednesday evening, the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) named Jade Kovacevic (Georgetown, ON) the Women's Soccer Player of the Year and Brandon Mendes (London, ON) the Men's Soccer Player of the Year. This is the first time in Fanshawe Soccer history that a Falcon student-athlete has been named Player of the Year.

Kovacevic led the nation in scoring, with 26 goals in ten games. She broke the OCAA record of goals in a season (previously 20), the Fanshawe College record of goals in a season (previously 13), tied the Fanshawe College record for goals in a single game (5) and is tied for first on the Fanshawe career goal scoring list after playing only one season.

Mendes was exceptional defensively this season. His leadership and experience helped lead the Falcons to first place in the OCAA West Division, while tying for first place for the least amount of goals against in the OCAA (6). Both Kovacevic and Mendes will be the OCAA nominees for the CCAA Player of the Year, which will be announced on November 10.
