On Tuesday, May 4, 2021, students in Fanshawe’s Child and Youth Care (CYC) program (London Campus) will make special deliveries to St. Thomas Children’s Aid Society (CAS).
Recognizing how difficult it has been to connect with families during the past year, the students decided to put together wellness and self-care kits for distribution by CAS.
The collaboration with CAS began with a small team of second year students who were doing their placement completely online. Led by third year students in the program, they purchased items using a wellness grant CAS received to put together family kits that includes items such as free haircuts/manicures, family games, soap making kit, gift cards, Kettle Creek Conservation Park passes and other social emotional focused books, kits and activities and more. The CYC program also created a 100-page resource book of local activities, supports and resources specifically created for families and individuals in the St. Thomas area.
Media is invited to join Chantell Carreiro, field placement coordinator, Child and Youth Care program, along with a few students for this delivery.
