(London, Ontario) – At the recently completed Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Winter Board Meetings in Ottawa, the CCAA approved Fanshawe Athletics bid to host the 2016 CCAA National Curling Championships.

Fanshawe will host the event March 23-26, 2016 at the Highland Curling Club in London, Ontario. Eight women's and eight men's teams from across Canada will compete in the Championships and as hosts, the Fanshawe Falcons women's and men's curling teams will be guaranteed a spot in the tournament.

"We are thrilled that our comprehensive bid to host the 2016 Curling National Championships was approved by the CCAA. We look forward to showcasing both our nationally recognized curling program, led by Head Coach Barry Westman, as well as the great City of London on the national stage," said Nathan McFadden, Manager of Athletics at Fanshawe. "The teams that qualify for this championship can expect high quality venues unlike any they have experienced before at this level. From the exceptional upscale facility at the Highland Country Club to the uniqueness of the newly renovated Delta London Armouries, participants will be provided with an outstanding experience while being hosted by Fanshawe during their stay in London."

Fanshawe has hosted a number of Provincial Championships, but hasn't hosted a CCAA National Championship since 2004 when they hosted the CCAA National Soccer Championships.
