(London, Ontario) – Last weekend, the Fanshawe Women's Indoor Soccer team won the silver medal at the OCAA Provincial Championships in Ancaster, Ontario. The Falcons fell just short, dropping a tough 1-0 decision in overtime to the St. Clair Saints.
Fanshawe finished the round robin in first place in their division after a 2-1 win over the Seneca Sting, a 1-0 win over the Humber Hawks and a 2-2 tie with the Conestoga Condors. The Falcons then faced the Sheridan Bruins in the semi-finals and won 1-0 in overtime. In the final, Fanshawe held the St. Clair Saints to a 0-0 draw in regulation but gave up a tough goal in the last few minutes of overtime to lose 1-0. Fanshawe's second-year defender Chelsea Brintnell and fifth-year forward Katie Parker were named OCAA Championship All-Stars. The last medal Fanshawe won in Women's indoor soccer was a bronze in 2011.
