2015/16 Strategic Plan focuses on student success, facilities and new programs.
Fanshawe College's 2015/16 Strategic Plan and operating budget focuses on student success, enrolment growth – both domestic and international, facilities expansion and new program development.
Planning for the 2015/16 fiscal year has been underway since November 2014 with emphasis placed on developing sustainable operating efficiencies and enrolment growth through new program development that will carry the College forward in the future.
"This budget represents a balance between future planning and fiscal responsibility," says Fanshawe President Peter Devlin. "We must continue to invest in areas that support student and labour market needs."
The $230 million operating budget, approved by the Board of Governors yesterday, includes the launch of 15 innovative new programs in September 2015 including Aircraft Painter, Video Game Design and Development, Network Security & Architecture, Public Safety Leadership and three degree programs in the Lawrence Kinlin School of Business.
The budget also contained capital project support funding for building renewals and service enhancements that will provide students with access to flexible learning options tailored to meet their needs and expectations.
"To provide an exceptional learning experience and successful outcomes, we will continue to invest in state-of-the-art facilities and contemporary programming," says Devlin.
Key capital plan projects include:
Phase II of the downtown project – When completed, the Kingsmill property will accommodate approximately 1,500 students from the School of Information Technology and School of Tourism and Hospitality.
Wellness/Fitness Centre – This new facility is a joint proposal between the College and the Fanshawe Student Union. When completed, the Centre will provide improved access to fitness, athletic, wellness and health services.
Canadian Centre for Product Validation (CCPV) – This comprehensive, one-of-a-kind ISO certified test facility positions Fanshawe at the forefront of research and innovation while building the skilled workforce of the future. The Centre, opening in spring 2016, will allow Fanshawe students to engage in real-life research projects with community partners, while supporting the regional economy.
On-campus renovation – Fanshawe's new School of Public Safety will relocate to renovated space in C Building. The facility will house a physical activity space, fitness lab, change room and lockers, Emergency Telecommunications/Emergency Operations Lab.
