(London, Ontario) – On Sunday, June 25 in Lovosice-Litomerice, Czech Republic, the Team Canada Ball Hockey programs brought home a gold medal at the World Ball Hockey Federation Championship.


Former Fanshawe Women's Hockey program and Women's Varsity Soccer player Rachael Tricker was named Best Defenseman of the tournament, scoring three goals and adding five assists. The Fanshawe Women's Hockey program was also represented by former student-athlete Natasha King and three-time World Champion goaltender Danielle Bailey. 


The Women's team went a perfect 4-0 in round robin play before defeating Slovakia 7-0 in the semi-final. Canada finished the tournament with a 4-1 victory over the host Czech Republic in the gold medal game, where both Tricker and King each recorded a goal.


The Team Canada Men's Ball Hockey program also brought home a gold medal, defeating the Czech Republic 3-2 in the final game. Pat Millington, who was with the Fanshawe Men's Hockey program as both a player and a coach, contributed two goals in Canada's 9-5 semi-final victory over the USA.
