Fanshawe College is proud to announce that former Vice President Student Services Cathie Auger has been presented with the Minister's Lifetime Achievement Award from Deputy Minister Greg Orencsak.

The Lifetime Achievement Award recognizes success in advancing the college, the community and the Ontario college system.

Throughout her excellent career spanning almost 40 years at Fanshawe, Auger fulfilled a multitude of leadership roles with enthusiasm, accountability and transparency. On the provincial front, Ontario Colleges Library Services (OCLS), Ontario College Application Service (OCAS), Colleges Ontario and Colleges and Institutes Canada (CICan) all benefited from her experience and focus on students. She was also pivotal to the establishment and development of the Centre for Innovation in Campus Mental Health.

Cathie Auger and Peter DevlinFurther extending her leadership to several areas of focus with Colleges Ontario, Auger chaired the provincial Coordinating Committee for Student Services three times, representing Vice-Presidents and Directors of Student Services at the Colleges of Applied Arts and Technology (CAAT) Coordinating Committee.

On campus at Fanshawe, one of Auger's most significant achievements was her leadership role liaising with the Student Union to create the recently-opened Student Wellness Centre. Her collaborative and meticulous approach steered concept, facility planning, student service opportunities, funding development and construction. Additionally, a $27-million contribution from students is the largest contribution from students the college sector has ever seen.

"During her rich career as a key leader at Fanshawe, Cathie was involved in every aspect of college operations contributing to college success," says Fanshawe President Peter Devlin. "Her interest in the personal and professional growth of others – particularly developing the leaders of tomorrow – is evident and admirable, and we are very proud of her lifetime recognition."
