(London, Ontario) – The Fanshawe Men's Basketball team (2-2) won both games on the weekend versus the Sault Cougars (0-4) by scores of 86-67 and 79-58.  The Falcons are now in fourth place in the OCAA West Division.

On Saturday night, the Cougars came out aggressive and the Falcons took an early timeout with the score tied at five.  Fanshawe pulled ahead by four and led 24-20 after the first quarter.  The Falcons took advantage in the paint and made their free throws, taking a 43-34 lead into the second half.  Fanshawe extended their lead in the third but the Cougars clawed back into the game and were only down by 10 heading to the final quarter.  Fanshawe once again pulled ahead in the fourth and with just two minutes remaining, a big three pointer from the corner by Jake Price capped a 14-2 run for the Falcons. Fanshawe went on to win the game by a final score of 86-67.

On Sunday afternoon, Fanshawe fell behind early in the first quarter on some good outside shooting by the Cougars.  The Falcons came back and tied the game on a great drive by DeAndre Austin.  The Falcons were in early foul trouble, allowing the Cougars to keep the game close.  After the first quarter, the Falcons led 17-16.  Fanshawe started taking the ball to the basket and pulled ahead 25-20 in the second quarter.  After a Cougars timeout, the Falcons continued to dominate in the post with Alfred Johnston scoring back-to-back baskets at the rim.  Fanshawe scored 15 straight at one point and led 40-24 heading into halftime.  Fanshawe started the third with five straight and led by 21 points but the Sault came right back with six of their own and Fanshawe called a timeout.   The Cougars closed the gap to 14 but Fanshawe still led 56-42 with one quarter to play.  In the fourth, the Falcons pulled away and won the game by a final score of 79-58. Johnston finished with a game-high 25 points while Filip Pejic had a double-double for Fanshawe with 11 points and 10 rebounds.

Fanshawe's next game takes place on the road on Friday, November 11, when they travel to Sarnia, Ontario to take on the Lambton Lions (0-1).
