(London, Ontario) – At the Glenn Johnston Athletic Centre on Saturday afternoon, the Fanshawe Men's Basketball team (0-8) lost to the Sheridan Bruins (7-2) by a score of 91-78. The Bruins are currently ranked sixth nationally.
Fanshawe and Sheridan traded baskets to start the game and finished the opening frame tied at 23. Falcons' veteran Connor Therrien was on fire, scoring 12 points in the first quarter. The second quarter began with Fanshawe's Oshane Daley dishing a nice pass to Frank Ngakoutou for a layup, which was followed by a beautiful shot from behind the arc by Therrien to give Fanshawe a 5-point lead. Sheridan then responded with a run of their own, and went into the locker room with a 38-35 lead.
In the third quarter, the Bruins applied tough defensive pressure and took a 5-point lead over the Falcons. The home team responded with a pair of huge put-backs by Ngatoutou. The scoring went back and forth for the remainder of the quarter, until Therrien hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer to give Fanshawe a 2-point lead going into the final frame. Unfortunately for the home team, the Bruins gained momentum from the Falcons foul trouble in the fourth quarter. Fanshawe struggled to contain Sheridan player Brian Owusu, who hit back-to-back shots to extend the Bruins' lead. Despite their best efforts, Fanshawe fell by a score of 91-78.
