(London, Ontario) – The Fanshawe Women's Basketball team (1-1) defeated the Sheridan Bruins (0-3) by a score of 63-39 at the Glenn Johnston Athletic Centre on Saturday afternoon.

 

Fanshawe came out strong to start the game, using defensive pressure to force Sheridan to numerous turnovers. Falcons' player Anique Daley had a nice steal and layup to start off the scoring for the home team. The Falcons held the Bruins to only five points in the second quarter, and were up by a score of 36-16 at half time.

 

Fanshawe's scoring slowed down in the third quarter, as the Bruins battled to stay within reach. The Falcons then picked up the intensity in the final frame with big shots by Mikhaila Wright and Laura Vere. Fanshawe went on to win their home opener by a final score of 63-39.

 

 

Fanshawe's Top Performers:

Mikhaila Wright – 19 points, 9 rebounds

Laura Vere – 18 points, 7 rebounds

 

Sheridan's Top Performers:

Samantha Lovat – 10 points, 8 rebounds

 

Fanshawe is back in action at home on Saturday, November 5, when they take on the Sault Cougars.
