(London, Ontario) – On Saturday afternoon, the Fanshawe Women's Volleyball team (3-5) was defeated in three straight sets by the #2 CCAA ranked Humber Hawks (6-0) by scores of 25-11, 25-17 and 25-16. The Falcons are in seventh place in the OCAA West Division.

In the first set, the Falcons jumped out to a 3-1 lead but tough serving by the Hawks had Fanshawe behind early.  Humber went on a 12-1 run, and the Falcons called a timeout.  The Hawks continued to attack and put up a number of big blocks at the net, as Humber went on to win the first set 25-11. Hunter Medd had two kills in the set for the Falcons.

Humber led 9-4 in the second set but a number of serving errors by the Hawks kept Fanshawe in the game.  Lindsay Wilcox served four straight and Fanshawe closed the gap to four, 19-15, forcing the Hawks to take their first timeout.  A huge kill by Allysha Couch excited the home crowd but it wasn't enough as Humber went on to win the set 25-17.

Early in the third, the Hawks relentless attack continued.  With Fanshawe trailing 8-4, the Falcons built some momentum including aces by Wilcox and Couch.  After yet another Fanshawe ace, the Falcons were within two, 15-13, but the Hawks finished the game on a 10-3 run to take the set 25-16. Fanshawe's Wilcox and Renee McCormick both finished with five points for the Falcons.
