(London, Ontario) – On Wednesday night, the Falcons Women's Volleyball team (0-1) lost their season opener at home versus the Niagara Knights (1-0) three sets to one (23-25, 27-25, 25-15, 25-18).

Fanshawe came out as the aggressor and led 12-8, forcing the Knights into an early timeout. The Knights rallied and led 21-20 until Fanshawe's Lindsay Wilcox scored three straight aces, putting the Falcons back on top 23-21.  Fanshawe went on to win the set 25-23.  The second set went back and forth but the Falcons took a three point lead 16-13 and the Knights took a timeout.   Niagara climbed back and tied the game at 24.  Unfortunately for the Falcons, Niagara came away with the set with a 27-25 lead with scores that alternated between teams.  The third set started out close but the Falcons fell behind 12-9 and took a timeout.  The Knights came out of the timeout on a tear, finishing the set on a 13-6 run and taking the third set 25-15.  In the fourth, Fanshawe fell behind early and were down 6-2 but continued to fight.  A huge kill by Allysha Couch gave the Falcons some momentum as they closed the gap to two but the Knights came back with a pair of big blocks and the Falcons called a timeout.  Down 16-12, the Falcons could not get into a rhythm on offense, as the Knights would win the game 25-18 and the match 3-1.
