(London, Ontario) – The Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) announced on Tuesday that two Falcon student-athletes were named their respective sport's Athlete of the Week.
Kady Hawkins was named OCAA Softball Athlete of the Week.
It is impossible for Kady Hawkins (London, ON) to win a second straight OCAA Rookie of the Year award, but that hasn't stopped her from putting together a great start to the women's softball season. The centrefielder has a five-game multi-hit streak, getting at least two hits in each game, including five in a doubleheader sweep of defending champion St. Clair. She also scored two times and drove in three.
Jade Kovacevic was named OCAA Women's Soccer Athlete of the Week.
Jade Kovacevic (Georgetown, ON) made her OCAA debut this week, scoring an incredible 12 goals in three matches. The former LSU Tiger and 2012 Second Team All-SEC and SEC All-Freshman Team member is eight goals away from matching Katie Watts' OCAA single-season record 20 goals set in 2008. Kovacevic has seven games to reach the record.
Hawkins and the Women's Softball team will be in action again on Wednesday, September 23, when they travel to Kitchener to take on the Conestoga Condors at 5pm and 7pm. Kovacevic and the Women's Soccer team will be playing next on Saturday, September 26 at home, also against Conestoga, at 12pm.
