(London, Ontario) – Fanshawe Athletics announced today, that Women's Badminton student-athlete Riley Hogan (Sault Ste. Marie, ON) has been named the Fanshawe Female Student-Athlete of the Month for February.


Hogan helped lead the Fanshawe Falcons Badminton team up the CCAA National Rankings to #7 with her successful month of February. At the OCAA West Regionals hosted by University of Toronto Mississauga February 2-3, Hogan finished in first place in the Women's Singles event with a perfect 7-0 record. Then, at the OCAA Provincial Championship at Mohawk College February 16-17, Hogan was awarded the OCAA Women's Singles silver medal. In the semi-final, she defeated Rachel Wong of UTM, 21-16, 17-21, 21-14 to punch her ticket to Nationals. Hogan then fell to George Brown's Minh Anh Hoang in the final, 11-21, 16-21. She will represent the Falcons at the 2018 CCAA Badminton National Championships hosted by Concordia University in Edmonton, Alberta February 28-March 3. The last time a Fanshawe Badminton Women's Singles student-athlete advanced to the CCAA National Championship was 30 years ago in 1988. Hogan is a fifth year student-athlete in the Business Human Resources program.


For her accomplishments, Hogan will receive a health and wellness package.
