(London, Ontario) – After two days of tough competition, the OCAA Provincial Badminton Championships have come to an end with student-athletes from Humber, George Brown, Redeemer and Seneca going home with the tournament's top awards.

Owen Kurvits of the Redeemer Royals successfully defended his title, winning his second straight OCAA Men's badminton singles crown. Kurvits, who was named the 2015 OCAA Male Badminton Player of the Year, went undefeated at the championship (7-0). Jesse Assing from Humber College was awarded the silver medal, while Milan Kkharel of Seneca College took home the bronze.

OCAA Female Player of the Year Olivia Lei from Humber College also went undefeated (7-0) to win provincial gold in the Women's singles division. Lei's teammate and last year's OCAA Women's singles champion Cindy Fu settled for the silver medal, while Jessica Murray from Conestoga finished with the bronze.

Seneca College's Suzy Yan and Yan Zhou took home the title of Women's doubles champions defeating Humber's Christina Duong and Michelle Chow in the gold medal final. Fanshawe's Riley Hogan and Jodi Grobbecker came away with the bronze medal.

In the Men's doubles division, George Brown's Ross Golding and Ogyen Dorjee were crowned provincial champions, after coming away with a 2-1 win over Ryan Chow and Darcy Schmidt of Humber College in the final. Chow and Schmidt would finish in second. Allan Tong and Tommy Cheung of Seneca College won the bronze.

In the final event of the day, Tracy Wong and Adam Dong defeated Kianoosh Moslemi and Victoria Hall in the mixed doubles final. Wong has now won an OCAA gold medal in five consecutive years. The bronze medal went to the team of Hans Agnihorti and Taylor Cond from Cambrian College.

Humber College defended their titles from last year, winning both the Women's team and Men's team divisions.

Both the OCAA gold and silver medalists will represent Ontario at the 2015 CCAA National Badminton Championships, hosted by the University of King's College in Halifax, Nova Scotia from March 4-7, 2015.
