(London, Ontario) – The #7 nationally ranked Fanshawe Men's Volleyball team (4-0) defeated the Humber Hawks (1-2) on Sunday afternoon, three sets to one (23-25, 25-23, 25-22 and 25-10).

Falcons recruit Cole Jordan (London, ON) had the first home kill of the season for Fanshawe. Then, a massive left side hit and an ace by Will Otten (Delaware, ON) gave the Falcons an 8-6 lead. The Hawks would stay within reach with a couple of strong kills of their own. With the score tied at 20, Fanshawe's Mike Liscumb (Ilderton, ON) excited the crowd with a huge block. Humber regrouped and would then take the 24-23 lead with a service ace and unfortunately go on to win the first set 25-23.

To start the second set, Humber continued where they left off, scoring the first two points. The two teams traded points throughout the set, and the score was tied once again at 14-14. Hits from Falcons Sam Otten (Delaware, ON) and David Gundrum (Port Elgin, ON) gave the home team a slight advantage. Fanshawe would capitalize on a few Humber errors down the stretch and take the second set, 25-23.

Fanshawe would start the third set with a kill and ace by Jordan to take the early lead. A nice set by Gundrum to Jordan would extend the Falcons lead to 11-5. Fanshawe continued to win the battle at the net with stuff blocks by the Otten brothers and Jacob Scobie (Hamilton, ON). Humber would go on a comeback run to cut the Falcons lead to two points, but that is as close as they would get as Fanshawe won the third set, 25-22.

Back-to-back kills from Will Otten and Jordan got the home team going in the beginning of the fourth set, forcing Humber to call a timeout. Fanshawe would use that momentum and extended their lead to 14-4 on a commanding kill from Sam Otten. Liscumb put the exclamation point on the game with a block that brought the crowd to their feet, as the Falcons rolled to a 25-10 victory.
