Volunteers and officials to test emergency response with simulated scenario.
On Friday, May 22, 2015, a mock emergency will take place at Fanshawe College's London Campus. "Exercise H.E.R.O." will involve approximately 250 people, including Fanshawe staff, faculty and students, London Police Service, London Fire, Middlesex-London EMS, London Health Science Centre and others. The event will be visible on campus from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
This annual, real-time event provides an opportunity for College and community officials to rigorously test specific elements of their emergency planning and management, while engaging in a simulated crisis scenario. It will involve volunteers who will act as casualties, some with graphically portrayed injuries using make-up. There will also be a significant presence of emergency vehicles and first responders in the immediate area of the exercise. To ensure emergency responders and College officials are able to react as they would in a real-life crisis situation, the scenario will not be announced publicly.
