(London, Ontario) – Three members of the Fanshawe Men's Basketball program were honoured for their play this season as the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) handed out their 2015 league awards.
Chris Stanhope – OCAA First Team All-Star: In just his second year with the Falcons, Stanhope led the team in scoring with 17.3 points per game, while shooting over 52% from the field. He scored more than 20 points on nine different occasions and averaged more than 4.5 free throws attempted per game. He was also second on the team in rebounds per game (5.4) and steals per game (2.0).
Kyle McConnell – OCAA Second Team All-Star: McConnell was a very versatile player, locking down the other team's top scorers while knocking down a number of clutch shots for Fanshawe. He led the team in assists (3.3 per game), steals (2.3 per game) and minutes played (32.6 minutes per game). McConnell also was ranked fourth in the entire OCAA in three point percentage on the season (44.9%).
Moses Orozco-Rayo – OCAA All-Rookie Team: In his first season, Orozco-Rayo had a significant impact on the Falcons success. He played in all 18 league games this season and averaged 6.9 points per game, 2.9 assists per game and 2.6 rebounds per game. He was Fanshawe's primary ball handler in any tight situation, with the ability to take the ball to the rim or find his open teammates for easy baskets.
The Fanshawe Men's Basketball team is currently at the OCAA Basketball Provincial Championships at Durham College in Oshawa, Ontario. Their quarter-final game takes place on Friday, March 6th @ 3:00pm versus the Georgian Grizzlies.
