(London, Ontario) – The Fanshawe Men's Soccer team will play in the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) bronze medal game, which will take place on Saturday, October 31. The Men's Soccer team fell to the Humber Hawks in the semi-final game this afternoon by a score of 2-0.
Fanshawe was in tough against Humber, who are ranked second in the nation. The Hawks scored first, splitting the Fanshawe defenders. Unfortunately for the Falcons, Humber received a penalty kick shortly after and scored to go up 2-0. The Falcons were unable to come back, playing down two men in the second half due to red cards. The Player of the Game for the Falcons was Cedric N'Guessan. Fanshawe is looking to win their first OCAA medal since the 2009-10 season. They will play at 12pm tomorrow against the loser of the Algonquin versus Cambrian game.
The Falcons Women's team defeated the Fleming Knights this morning by a score of 1-0 in the consolation semi-final. Jade Kovacevic scored in the 15th minute for the Falcons. Fanshawe controlled the possession throughout the game and did not allow any opportunities for the Knights to equalize. Shania Burger was named the Player of the Game. Fanshawe will now play in the consolation final tomorrow at 9am against the Sheridan Bruins.
