(London, Ontario) – Three members of the Fanshawe Falcons Women's Basketball team were honoured Thursday evening for their accomplishments this season as the OCAA handed out their 2017-18 league awards at the Women's Basketball Championship Banquet in Etobicoke.  


Chuot AngouOCAA West Division First Team All-Star:  Chuot Angou (London, ON) led the Falcons this season on both ends of the floor. She averaged a team-high 14.6 points, 3.0 assists, and 2.3 steals per game. The 5'5” combo guard shot 43.1% from the field (11th in West), 34.3% from beyond the arc (5th in West) and 79.4% from the free throw line (2nd in West). She also added 4.0 rebounds per game.


Ali VlasmanOCAA West Division Second Team All-Star:  Fifth year forward Ali Vlasman (Mount Elgin, ON) has once again led Fanshawe to a Provincial Championship tournament, making it all five years of her career that she has accomplished the feat. Vlasman led the OCAA in field goal percentage, shooting an impressive 55.5%. She averaged 13.0 points and 7.6 rebounds per game for the Falcons and is also the Fanshawe Women's Basketball all-time leader in both categories, completing her regular season career with 831 total points and 473 total rebounds.


Bill CarriereOCAA West Division Coach of the Year:  In his 12th season as Fanshawe Women's Basketball's Head Coach, Carriere was named the OCAA West Division Coach of the Year. Carriere coached the Falcons to an impressive 17-3 league record, good for second place in the OCAA West Division. The Falcons finished the regular season ranked 11th in all of Canada. Carriere is a 4-time winner of the OCAA Coach of the Year award - 1987-88, 1991-92, 1992-93 and 1993-94. 


The Falcons quarterfinal game at the OCAA Provincial Championship takes place on Friday at 8:00pm versus the Durham Lords. The OCAA Championships are being hosted by Humber College.
