College Policy Manual changes (September 11, 2015)

Please be advised that the College is in the midst of a project to rationalize and reorganize College policies. The objectives of this project include:

  • Reducing the number of and content of policies to the minimum necessary to carry out College business in an effective and efficient fashion;
  • Revising policy language, tone, format and accessibility in ways that promote and support employee freedom to act in the achievement of policy objectives; and
  • Making it easier to locate and access a particular College policy.

Until replaced or rescinded, current policies remain accessible through the usual College web pages. When an updated policy (having a new policy number) is posted, the old policy will be removed/rescinded. The policy(ies) noted below have been reformatted, renumbered and re-styled, but do not include any substantive content change from the policy(ies) being replaced unless otherwise noted.

1-H-09: Investment Activities

Rescinded (July 15, 2015)

A new Terms of Reference (see below, TOR08) for the Investment Committee has been approved. The contents of this policy was extracted and included in TOR08 and is therefore no longer needed.

2-B-19: Terms of Reference – College Advisory Committees

The Fanshawe version of such committees generally have had a mandate to advise regarding all programs in a school, faculty or campus. To better align with MTCU policies, we are focusing the mandate of such committees to cover a program or cluster or programs, and renaming the committees as Program Advisory Committees. Please see TOR27 below which replaces this policy.

P212: Staff Recruitment

The above four policies were recently approved as part of the pilot project for administrative policy optimization. They have now been reviewed again to strengthen their alignment with governing legislation, and for internal and external consistency, resulting in minor updates. There are no substantive changes to these policies other than the addition of a missing complaint form in policy P208.

Terms of reference (TofR) for College committees are in the process of being removed from College policy and will form a standalone class of College documents. The development and maintenance of committee terms of reference is governed by College Standard STD02: Standards for Committee Terms of Reference. The following TofR are now posted in the new format (noting that TOR05 is new). Unless otherwise stated, no substantive changes have been made.
