(London, Ontario) – LondonOntarioSports.com announced today that Fanshawe Falcons Varsity Basketball and Soccer student-athlete, Ali Vlasman (Mount Elgin, ON), is the winner of the 2nd Annual Jeffrey Reed Courage Award. This award is given to a Southwestern Ontario athlete who inspires others by demonstrating courage on and off the playing field.


Vlasman is a fourth year student-athlete, who played on both the varsity Women's Basketball team and Outdoor and Indoor Women's Soccer teams this season. As a first time varsity soccer player, Vlasman stepped into the major role of starting goalkeeper for the 2016 Outdoor West Division Champions (9-0-1), and won an OCAA Indoor Soccer Bronze medal, only allowing 2 goals in 6 games.


Vlasman had an even bigger role on the Falcons Women's Basketball team, averaging 10.3 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 3.5 assists per game this season. At the 2017 OCAA Women's Basketball Championships, Vlasman stepped up her game and was named a Tournament Team All-Star for her performance, averaging 18.3 points and 7.3 rebounds per game. She received player of the game in both the quarter-final game versus Algonquin and the semi-final game versus Humber, where she scored a career-high of 26 points.
