(London, Ontario) – Fanshawe student-athletes Matt Catalano (Men's Soccer) and Sebastian Lethbridge (Men's Volleyball) are currently representing Canada in the 2017 Summer Universiade in Taipei City, Chinese Taipei.

 

The Men's Soccer team is 0-2 after their first two matches, falling to Uruguay by a score of 2-0 and to Japan 5-0. They look to add a win in their final round robin game against Malaysia, who is also 0-2. Game time is 4:00 am ET on August 23.

 

The Men's Volleyball team is in third place in Pool D, with a record of 2-1. They started their campaign with a 3-2 win over United Arab Emirates, and then had a close loss to Switzerland 3-2. This morning, Canada defeated Cyprus three sets to none. Canada has two games remaining in round robin play, as they look to finish in the top two to advance to the quarterfinals. Next up, they will face Argentina on August 24 at 1:00 am ET.

 

The International University Sports Federation (FISU) 29th Summer Universiade will run until August 30, 2017. For more information, see the FISU website:
