In the final, Hogan took on Minh Anh Hoang of George Brown and fell 11-21, 16-21 to claim the silver medal. Hogan was also named an OCAA All-Star.

Sahil also finished with a round robin record of 3-2, good for third place. He then battled second place Alishan Shalwani of Centennial in the semi-final match and won 21-17, 21-13 to clinch a spot at Nationals. Sahil was then matched up against George Brown's Yuge Zeng, the OCAA Men's Badminton Player of the Year, in the final and lost 11-21, 16-21. Sahil was awarded the OCAA Men's Singles silver medal and named an OCAA All-Star.

The Fanshawe Badminton Men's Doubles pair of Allan Pao (London, ON) and San Dang (London, ON) finished fifth in the tournament and overall the Falcons Badminton team finished in third place. Hogan and Sahil will represent the Falcons at the 2018 CCAA Badminton National Championship hosted by Concordia University in Edmonton, Alberta February 28-March 3. The Falcons are ranked #7 nationally.

MEN'S VOLLEYBALL:

The #1 CCAA ranked Fanshawe Men's Volleyball team went 2-0 last week. In their final regular season match on Wednesday evening at #6 Humber, the Falcons set a Fanshawe Volleyball record for most wins in a season with 18. The win also marked the first undefeated regular season in Fanshawe Volleyball history.

The Falcons defeated the Hawks in three straight sets, including an exciting 41-39 second set victory. Cole Jordan (London, ON) and Zach Albert (Brampton, ON) led Fanshawe with 14 points each.

At the Glenn Johnston Athletic Centre on Saturday afternoon, the Falcons punched their ticket to the OCAA Provincial Championship with a three set sweep over the Centennial Colts (7-12, 8th in East).

The Colts came out strong in the opening set, staying with the Falcons and keeping the game close. Midway through the frame, the score was 14-13 in favour of the home team. A right side attack from Sam Otten (Delaware, ON) got the Falcons going, as they would then extend their lead to 20-15. A brilliant serve by Will Otten (Delaware, ON) gave Fanshawe the first set, 25-18.

Fanshawe continued to share the ball on offense, as five different Falcons registered points in the second set. The red and white went on a 5-0 run, sparked by a massive kill by Albert, followed by a block from Jordan to make the score 19-10. The Falcons finished the set on a 6-1 run to win 25-11.

Fanshawe came out flying in the third set, using their momentum to carry them to a 5-0 lead. Sebastian Lethbridge (London, ON) set up Jordan for yet another kill that excited the home crowd. The Falcons high-powered attack proved too much for the Colts, as Fanshawe took the final set 25-12 and the match 3-0.

In the second set, good serving by Jamie McKee (London, ON) gave the Falcons an early 4-1 lead. The red and white continued to press offensively but the Panthers held their own, keeping the score close at 15-13 midway through the set. Canadore then took the lead late in the set and Fanshawe was unable to recover, falling 26-24.

A right side attack from Mattea Deleary (Ridgetown, ON) started the Falcons off in the third set. The teams exchanged points, as a well-placed tip from captain Gropp tied the score at 9.
