MEN'S BASEBALL:

 

The Falcons Baseball squad did not play any games this past week.  Their doubleheader versus St. Clair originally scheduled for last Friday was postponed due to inclement weather and will be played tonight in Windsor at 6pm and 8pm.

WOMEN'S SOFTBALL:

 

The Fanshawe Women's Softball team fell in both games to the St. Clair Saints on the road last Tuesday by scores of 9-1 and 13-1.

 

Fanshawe's next game will be tonight at 6pm, when they host the Conestoga Condors at Stronach Park.

MEN'S SOCCER:

 

The #5 nationally ranked Falcons Men's Soccer team tied St. Clair on the road last Saturday 2-2, scoring in the 85th minute to keep their unbeaten streak alive. The goal scorers for Fanshawe were Kevin Schmid (Brid, Switzerland) and Alberto Barquin (London, ON).

 

The Falcons will travel to Niagara on Wednesday to face the Knights.

WOMEN'S SOCCER:

 

The #9 CCAA ranked Fanshawe Women's Soccer team continued their winning streak, defeating the St. Clair Saints 1-0 last Saturday.

 

Monica Rocha (Kitchener, ON) scored the winning goal for the Falcons. Fanshawe has only allowed one goal against so far this season and is currently tied for first in the OCAA in this category. The victory stretched the Falcons regular season unbeaten streak to 20 games. Their last regular season loss came on October 8, 2015 against St. Clair. Head Coach Mike Marcoccia has not lost an OCAA league game since he began his coaching career with Fanshawe (17 games).

 

The Falcons will look to continue their success in their next match versus Niagara on Wednesday evening.

CROSS COUNTRY:

 

The Men's and Women's Cross Country teams are ranked #3 and #5 in the nation respectively after the first CCAA Cross Country rankings were released last Tuesday.

 

Their next race will be the Centennial College Invitational on Saturday, October 14.

 

 

GOLF:

 

The Fanshawe Men's Golf team finished in fourth place at the 2017 OCAA Provincial Championships in Sault Ste. Marie last week. Falcons golfer Thomas Code (Dorchester, ON) had an individual fourth place finish as well.

 

Code will represent Fanshawe at the CCAA National Golf Championship hosted by Durham College in Oshawa, ON. The four day tournament will take place from October 17-20 at the Royal Ashburn Golf Club.

 

 

MEN'S BASKETBALL:

 

The Men's Basketball team went 1-1 in preseason play last week.

 

On the road on Thursday against Laurier University, the Falcons lost a tight game by a score of 84-78. Sean Clendenning (Orillia, ON) and Chris Parker (Toledo, OH) led Fanshawe in scoring with 25 and 24 points respectively. Parker also added 7 boards.

 

The Falcons rebounded with an 87-69 win at home on Friday against Hilbert College from Buffalo, New York. Fanshawe found themselves down four at half, despite shooting 50% from the floor. Parker led Fanshawe in the first twenty minutes with 14 points. The Falcons stepped it up in the third quarter, took the lead and never looked back. Three point plays by rookie Hanani Ujullu (Kitchener, ON) in the fourth quarter sealed the deal and Fanshawe went on to win the game 87-69. Parker finished as the Birds top scorer with 25 points and five rebounds.

 

Fanshawe will continue exhibition play this upcoming weekend in Oshawa at the Durham Tournament on October 13-14.
