(London, Ontario) – In conjunction with Volleyball Canada, Fanshawe College is pleased to announce it will be the newest home to Volleyball Canada's Centre of Excellence (VCCE).
The VCCE is a new initiative established by Volleyball Canada for athletes entering grades 8 through 12. It focuses on individual skill development for high performance athletes to identify and train them for future participation with the national team program.
"Fanshawe College is thrilled to partner with Volleyball Canada to host a Centre of Excellence," said Nathan McFadden, Manager of Athletics. "Having one of the most successful athletic programs in the country, Fanshawe is well-positioned to provide expert coaching to the VCCE that our varsity student-athletes already receive. London has a strong volleyball community with an abundance of talent and we look forward to developing that further at the VCCE."
Athletes will be selected to join the Centre of Excellence in September 2013 based on attending the VCCE London Identification session. Those athletes selected will be invited to join the Centre to train alongside the top volleyball players in London.
Dawna Sales, Program Manager of Volleyball Canada Centre of Excellence said, "We are excited to open our newest VCCE in London. To ensure excellence in athlete development, key partnerships with elite level coaches and quality facilities are a top priority. We look forward to working with Fanshawe College to build a Centre of Excellence in this region."
