(London, Ontario) – The Fanshawe Falcons Men's Volleyball squad is ranked #1 in this week's Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) top 15.


The Falcons Men's Volleyball team finished with a perfect 18-0 record, marking the first time in Fanshawe Volleyball history that a team has gone undefeated in regular season play. The Falcons also set a Fanshawe Volleyball record for most wins in a season. Last Saturday, Fanshawe swept Centennial (7-12, 8th in East) in their first round playoff match to clinch their spot at the OCAA Provincial Championship, which will take place from February 22-24 at Georgian College in Barrie. The Falcons will face the Fleming Knights (11-8, 4th in East) in an OCAA quarterfinal at 3pm on Thursday, February 22.  Other OCAA Men's Volleyball teams that are represented in the CCAA rankings include Humber (6), Georgian (8) and Redeemer (11).


The Fanshawe Badminton team jumped to #7 in Canada after an impressive showing at the OCAA Provincial Championships in Hamilton last weekend. Riley Hogan (Sault Ste. Marie, ON) and Sahil Sahil (India) won silver medals in Women's and Men's Singles respectively, which punched their tickets to the CCAA National Championships hosted by Concordia University in Edmonton, Alberta February 28-March 3. They were both named OCAA All-Stars. Other OCAA teams that are ranked include George Brown (1), Humber (4), Georgian (10) and University of Toronto Mississauga (15).


The Women's Basketball team (16-3) is ranked #11 in the nation this week after winning back-to-back road contests. Fanshawe defeated Conestoga (5-15) 70-42, followed by Lambton (2-17) 81-49. They will wrap up regular season play on Wednesday, February 21, when they host Sheridan (9-10) at 6pm. Other OCAA Women's Basketball teams that are represented in the CCAA rankings include Humber (1) and Mohawk (15).


The Falcons Women's Volleyball squad are ranked #12 again this week after defeating Canadore (6-13, 7th in East) in a cross over playoff match on Saturday, 3-1. The victory secured their spot at the OCAA Provincial Championship, which will be held at Centennial College from February 22-24. They will play the Niagara Knights in an OCAA quarter-final at 1pm on Thursday, February 22. The only other OCAA Women's Volleyball team that is ranked is #3 Humber.
