(London, Ontario) – The defending National Champion Fanshawe Falcons Men's Baseball team (2-0) defeated the Seneca Sting (0-2) in both games of their doubleheader on Saturday afternoon by scores of 6-3 and 10-4.
In the first game, both teams got off to a slow start. In the fourth inning, Fanshawe finally opened the scoring on a Zach Desa (London, ON) RBI, scoring Hayden Regnier (Komoka, ON). The Falcons caught on fire in the sixth inning when with the bases loaded, Tyler Wood (Niagara Falls, ON) hit a triple to score three. Wood then went on to score on a double by Zev Weisdorf (London, ON). Seneca looked to make a comeback in the final inning, however fell short, and the Falcons closed them out to win the game 6-3. Weisdorf had an outstanding game, going 3 for 4, with one RBI and one run. The winning pitcher for Fanshawe was Oakville native, Tyler Rymal (1-0).
The Falcons started where they left off in game two, scoring five runs in the first inning. Weisdorf led the way for Fanshawe, with 3 hits and scoring two runs. Wood also went 3 for 4 with two runs and left-fielder Desa added two RBIs and one run. The winning pitcher for the Falcons was Markham native, Stephen Barclay (1-0).
Fanshawe's Top Performer:
Zev Weisdorf - 6 for 8, 3 Runs, 1 RBI
Seneca's Top Performer:
Dwaine Nichol - 3 for 5, 2 RBIs, BB
Fanshawe returns to action tomorrow, when they host the George Brown Huskies (0-2) at Aldridge Field. Game times are 12pm and 2:30pm.
