(London, Ontario) – On Saturday evening, the Fanshawe Men's Basketball team (10-7) fell to the #11 ranked Humber Hawks (14-4) by a score of 70-59 at the Glenn Johnston Athletic Centre.
Humber jumped out to an early lead with sharp shooting from behind the arc. Fanshawe had scoring from forward Lex Van Iperen (Englehart, ON) with a put back, followed by a drive from Chris Parker (Toledo, OH). Unfortunately, the Hawks held a 24-13 lead after the first quarter. In the second frame, the Falcons opened the scoring with two free throws from D'Andre Austin (Toronto, ON). A three pointer from Xavier Ellis (Hamilton, ON) ignited a spark, as the Falcons went on a 7-0 run to cut Humber's lead to 30-27. The Falcons took the lead on a shot from Sean Clendinning (Orillia, ON) and Parker made a deep three at the buzzer to give Fanshawe a 35-30 lead going into the locker room.
In the third quarter, Sean Clendinning hit another beautiful shot from behind the arc. Parker then scored off of a layup for the home team. Unfortunately, Humber worked their way back to a 49-44 lead after three quarters. In the final frame, a nice pass from Hanani Ujulu (Kitchener, ON) set up Van Iperen who was fouled on the layup. Parker would then score yet again on a nice floater in the middle of the key. Unfortunately, the Falcons could not recover from the deficit, and lost by a final score of 70-59.
