(London, Ontario) – Three Fanshawe Falcons varsity teams are ranked in the nation's top 15 in the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) rankings.
The Falcons Men's Volleyball team finished their OCAA season ranked #1 in the country, with a perfect 22-0 record. At Georgian College in Barrie last weekend, the Falcons were crowned Provincial Champions, not dropping a single set enroute to their second OCAA gold medal in three years. The Falcons will now travel to Victoria, British Columbia for the National Championship from March 7-10 hosted by Camosun College.
The Fanshawe Badminton team is #7 in Canada thanks to Falcons Riley Hogan (Sault Ste. Marie, ON) and Sahil Sahil (India), who won silver medals in Women's and Men's Singles respectively at Provincials. They will now battle in the CCAA National Championships hosted by Concordia University in Edmonton, Alberta February 28-March 3. Other OCAA teams that are ranked include George Brown (1), Humber (4), Georgian (10) and University of Toronto Mississauga (15).
The Women's Basketball squad (18-3, 2nd in West) is #11 in the nation this week after clinching their spot in the OCAA Championship Final Eight. Fanshawe defeated Algonquin (7-11, 7th in East) in a first round playoff game 86-60 and will next face Durham (10-8, 3rd in East) in a quarterfinal game on Friday, March 2 at 8pm. The tournament is being hosted by Humber College in Etobicoke. Other OCAA Women's Basketball teams that are represented in the CCAA rankings include Humber (1) and Mohawk (15).
