(London, Ontario) – The #11 nationally ranked Fanshawe Women's Basketball team (14-3) dropped their first game at home this season, falling to the top team in the country, the Humber Hawks (18-0) by a score of 65-54 on Saturday evening.

Fanshawe came ready to play in the first quarter, as they used ball movement on offense to take an early lead. Falcons forward Maddy Kielar (Newmarket, ON) had a strong take to the rim off of a pass from Sydney Kendellen (London, ON). The Falcons held a 20-14 lead after the first quarter, as their defence held Humber to only 24% from the field. In the second quarter, the Hawks stepped it up offensively and chipped away at Fanshawe's lead. Layups from Chuot Angou (London, ON) and Ali Vlasman (Mount Elgin, ON) kept the Falcons going. Despite holding the Hawks to a season-low 35 points at the half, the Falcons found themselves down one point.

In the third quarter, the Falcons opened the scoring with an elbow shot from Kaleigh Morris (London, ON). Unfortunately after that, the home team struggled on offense, resulting in easy fast break points for Humber. Mikhaila Wright (London, ON) had a nice shot from behind the arc to keep the home team within reach, however Humber extended their lead to 49-41 going into the final quarter. In the fourth frame, Fanshawe regrouped and got a midrange jumper from Dechet. They then got a bucket from Vlasman, however the Hawks would respond with points of their own to maintain the advantage. The Falcons provided the Hawks with their stiffest test of the season, but ultimately fell by a final score of 65-54.
