(London, Ontario) – On Thursday evening, the #14 CCAA ranked Fanshawe Women's Basketball squad (3-0) defeated the Niagara Knights (1-2) by a final score of 64-46.

Fifth year forward Ali Vlasman (Mount Elgin, ON) opened the scoring for the Falcons with a layup that was followed by two free throws from Mikhaila Wright (London, ON). The Knights and Falcons would trade buckets until Morgan Wagg (Sarnia, ON) found Wright for an open 3-pointer with 44 seconds left in the first quarter. Fanshawe's Chuot Angou (London, ON) took away Niagara's chance of responding with a steal and layup to put the home team up 17-8 after the first. In the second, another beautiful pass by Wagg resulted in an Angou layup. The Falcons would continue to run the Knights down, as Angou found Vlasman sprinting the floor for another two fast break points. At the half, Fanshawe led Niagara 34-18.

In the second half, a series of nice passes by Wright and Angou resulted in points from Vlasman and Claire Dechet (Sarnia, ON). Niagara would respond with a couple of 3-pointers to cut the Fanshawe lead to 15, but a clutch midrange shot from Kaleigh Morris (London, ON) would seal the deal. The Falcons defense proved too much for the Knights and Fanshawe went on to win the game 64-46.
