(London, Ontario) – On Thursday evening, the #15 CCAA ranked Fanshawe Women's Basketball team (7-1) defeated the Redeemer Royals (3-5) by a final score of 65-53.

Fanshawe opened the scoring with a shot from behind the arc from Mikhaila Wright (London, ON). The Royals would then go on a run and take the lead. A bucket from Maddy Kielar (Newmarket, ON) would stop the Redeemer run, however the Falcons still found themselves down 17-14 after one. Fanshawe took the lead in the second quarter on a layup by fifth-year player Ali Vlasman (Mount Elgin, ON). Claire Dechet (Sarnia, ON), would then get a steal and finished with a layup. Redeemer would hold their own though, as the Falcons still only had a one-point lead at the half.

The Falcons stepped it up in the second half and opened the third quarter on a 13-0 run with midrange shots from Vlasman, Dechet and Kaleigh Morris (London, ON). Fanshawe guard Chuot Angou (London, ON) then split the Royals defenders to give Fanshawe the 48-38 advantage after three quarters. Despite struggling to hit shots in the final quarter, Fanshawe grabbed numerous offensive rebounds to keep possession. Falcon guard Maggie Jarvis (London, ON) found her way to the rim on a layup. Then, a bank shot from the block by Taylor Evans (London, ON) would seal the deal. The Falcons went on to win the game 65-53.
