Making the most out of your Open House Experience
Seeing a school for yourself and feeling its energy can be a game-changer; it can move your fringe choice to the top or maybe your top choice to the bottom of your list.
A school’s open house is a great experience, but it can be overwhelming with so much to see and do, so we want to help you prepare to make the most of the experience. How each school presents itself during an Open House or Preview day may be different, so here’s our suggestions to get as much as possible out of your Fanshawe Open House experience.
Suggestion 1: If you want to see and do it all, plan to arrive early to fit everything in!
Suggestion 2: If Fanshawe is on your shortlist, be sure to mark Saturday, November 16, 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. in your calendar and pre-register at fanshawec.ca/openhouse.
Fanshawe will have five campuses (London, Downtown London, Simcoe, St. Thomas and Woodstock) and two regional sites (Clinton and Tiverton) open on November 16. Choose the campus(es) or site(s) that interests you.
Prioritize what you want to see and do that day. What are the programs you’re most interested in? Not sure yet? Take our Pathfinder assessment at fanshawepathfinder.ca
Info Sessions, Tours and Student Services:
Exploring the programs your are interested in should be your number one priority, but it’s also important to check out the information sessions on student services and accommodations offered at each campus. At Fanshawe’s London campus, we’ll offer a number of sessions along with residence tours throughout our Open House. Our Regional campuses will also have staff on hand to answer any questions you have on any of these topics.

Suggestion 3: Come prepared to ask questions
Here are a few questions we hear at Open House:
- What hands-on learning opportunities does this program offer?
- Is there a co-op, placement or internship with this program?
- Will I get to work on any real-world projects or with actual companies or businesses?
- What sorts of careers can this program lead to? What types of jobs are graduates of this program getting?
- Are there any pathways to degrees or additional education through this program?
- How can I best prepare to be successful in this program? (courses, summer job, independent learning, etc.)
Suggestion 4: Complete your application
Most Open Houses will have staff on hand to help you with your application that day. At Fanshawe, we always like to make that extra special. We’ll be ready to help you apply at any of our locations and receive some free #falconawesome gear on the spot!
