4 exciting theatre productions this fall

All the world’s a stage! Here are four plays we think you should add to your must-see list:

Dr. Silver

Musical Stage Company, Toronto until October 21, 2018.

An intriguing new Canadian musical from Britta and Anika Johnson, two of the most exciting creators currently working in musical theatre. This is a production that is equal parts bizarre and hilarious one moment and beautiful and heart-rending the next.

Krapp’s Last Tape

Theatre Passe Muraille, Toronto until October 21, 2018.

Samuel Beckett's short masterpiece is performed with great authenticity by Canadian theatre legend Bob Nasmith. This production has sold out twice this year and is back for a third run. This is an amazing opportunity to see a Canadian theatre pioneer give a once-in-a-lifetime performance.

Gertrude and Alice

Buddies in Bad Times, Toronto until October 7, 2018.

Expert performances by Anna Chatterton and Evalyn Parry as the famous couple Gertrude Stein and Alice B Toklas. Smart, funny and very moving work. Also, a brilliant new production design by visual artist Sherri Hay.

Napoli Milionaria!

Stratford Festival, Stratford until October 27, 2018.

A remarkable play that is rarely performed in North America has been given a top rate production and performed by a remarkable ensemble. The hilarious first act gives way to a poignant look at ethics and morals in post-war Italy. Tom McCamus gives a performance that will not soon be forgotten.
