Curl up with a good book

There’s nothing like curling up with a good book on a crisp fall day. Here are three titles we think should be on your reading list this season:

Educated, by Tara WestoverEducated by Tara Westover (2018)

This memoir will take you on the journey of one girl’s unconventional pathway towards education. Tara details her childhood that was nothing short of an adventure. With no medical records or birth certificate, she is brought up on the land, learning drills for apocalypses and never once stepping foot inside of a classroom. Despite never attending school, Tara manages to break from the unconventional upbringing and embark on a journey of education at the age of seventeen. This memoir will give you a whole new appreciation for the education you receive not only from your schooling, but also from your family.

Little Files Everywhere, by Celeste NgLittle Fires Everywhere by Celeste Ng (2017)

With this thought-provoking novel, Celeste describes a perfect suburban neighborhood and a couple of tenants that challenge that perfection. A single mother, Mia and her daughter move into the Richardson home. Mia and her daughter become fast friends with the Richardson family; however, they become suspicious of Mia’s mysterious past. While Mrs. Richardson becomes increasingly interested in unravelling the mystery, it leads to dangerous consequences for her own family. This novel will have you invested in the lives of both families and will linger with you long after you’ve finished the novel.

Milk and honey, by Rupi KaurMilk and Honey by Rupi Kaur (2015)

In this collection of modern poetry and prose, you will explore through four chapters that each serve a distinct purpose. The author delicately takes you through the moments in life that are both difficult and satisfying. This collection covers topics such as femininity, violence, love, abuse, and loss and gives the reader an open opportunity to interpret what that means to them. Rupi Kaur greatly conceptualizes the emotion with such care and craft by somehow seeing the sweet in the most difficult scenarios.
