This segment discusses cognitive impairments and the impact on the health and wellbeing of the individual and family caregivers.After attending this segment, students will understand how cognitive impairments impact the individual and family, and will be able to appreciate the scope and diversity of human experiences related to these cognitive conditions and the impact of infections. This segment describes the influences on and changes in cognitive health throughout a person's life, as well as some conditions, circumstances, and treatments that can interfere with quality of life, coping and functioning with activities of daily living and performances. Students will understand the importance of client involvement in the generation of goals for desirable outcomes and the use the nursing process to understand a plan to promote cognitive health practices and safety measures.
