After 27 years with Fanshawe College Marilyn will be retiring. She has been in many roles at the college including Counselling and Accessibility Services, the Registrar's Office, Financial Aid, the Alumni Association, and Library and Media Services.
In lieu of a personal gift, Marilyn has asked that any contributions be directed to the Fanshawe College Canadian Cadet Bursary in honour of her retirement.
You can type in "In honour of Marilyn Turner's Retirement" or "Fanshawe College Canadian Cadet Bursary" in the comments section. You can also write a cheque to Fanshawe College Foundation and drop it off or mail it to Elinor Schwob at K1003. All donations of $20 or more will receive a tax receipt.
More about the Fanshawe College Canadian Cadet Bursary
The Canadian Cadet program is a national program which:
- promotes leadership and citizenship,
- helps develop decision-making skills and teamwork, and
- increases self-confidence and physical fitness.
Former cadets make valuable contributions to Canadian society on a daily basis. Some choose a field directly related to their cadet training by joining the Canadian Armed Forces or becoming a commercial pilot. Others are, for example, world-class athletes, teachers, astronauts, or motivational speakers. Many simply excel in their chosen career, providing quiet leadership wherever they are. No matter what their profession, most former cadets credit their success later in life to having participated in the Canadian Cadet Organization.
Criteria for the bursary include:
- successful completion of at least three years of the program
- no longer a cadet
- financial need as demonstrated through the college bursary application system
- maintaining a "B" average for each semester the bursary is awarded.
