Funding Opportunities

These funding opportunities are already available in-house. If you meet the requirements of the funding stream, there is no application needed and the project can be started right away! The streams can help cover up to 75% of project costs in areas of research and development. 

Southern Ontario Network for Advanced Manufacturing Innovation (SONAMI)

SONAMI is a network of colleges and one university, who, through their respective Research and Innovation Centres, are collaborating with small- and medium-sized companies to turn innovations into commercialized products. SONAMI leverages faculty, students and state-of-the-market equipment, together with funding from the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario and Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada, to support manufacturing in southern Ontario.

Areas of Focus:

  • Advanced manufacturing-related research specifically focused on agriculture and agri-food
  • Proof-of-concept manufacturing design & build, in a wide variety of industry sectors 
  • Food processing, Food testing
  • Bio-waste (product extraction)

NSERC Innovation Enhancement (IE)

The objective of the IE grants is to increase innovation at the community and/or regional level by enabling Canadian colleges to increase their capacity to work with local companies, particularly small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). The grants support the growth of applied research capacity, leading to increased business collaborations that facilitate commercialization, as well as technology transfer, adaptation and adoption of new technologies.

  • Nutritional and shelf-life testing
