Sessions for May 3, 2019:
- Alice in Codeland
Alice allows students who have never programmed before to quickly create animated characters in their own virtual world. At this workshop you create the characters and control what it does simply by dragging and dropping commands from your tool box. Alice is a super cool learning tool to introduce you to the basics of computer programming in a really fun way.
- Hacker’s Heaven
There are people who try to break into our computers to steal our information, our money and our identities. At this workshop you will use a fun program to see how easy it is. Experience how hackers break into another computer and take complete control of it.
- Starting from SCRATCH
Begin your journey into coding with MIT's Scratch platform. Have you ever wondered how to take your passion for sports, music, art, etc., and make it come alive through code? At this workshop you will create a fully functional coding project with Scratch based on a topic you love. The best part.....your adventure doesn't end here, you can continue using Scratch's collaborative platform after the workshop to create and imagine!
- Photoshop – Wow!
Do you love applying cool filters to your photos using apps like Instagram? At this workshop you will learn how the professionals do it by using Adobe Photoshop to add filters to give your photos awesome effects. Use editing tools to select a portion of an image to crop, cut out, or copy to another image. With Photoshop the possibilities are limited only by your imagination!
- Unlock Creativity: What's Your Avatar's Story?
Have you ever wanted to learn how to create an animated video, photo or avatar? If so, this is the session for you! In this session, girls will be introduced to free presentation software that will allow them to explore a virtual world and will give them the chance to create, edit, and upload a short video to a safe YouTube channel.
- Design Thinking for Innovators
Digital saving solutions of the future: Have you ever wanted to quick think and build BIG!? Innovative companies big like Apple and small like start-ups apply Design Thinking to develop and test their innovations that truly captivate customers. This hands-on, interactive workshop with experienced designers will teach you the valuable technique of Design Thinking while you solve for a challenge all banks are faced with today and into tomorrow. By the end of the session, you’ll have the tools to unleash your creativity! No graphical skills required.

- The Art of Gaining Trust and Getting Information: Intro to Social Engineering
At Digital Boundary Group we are Ethical Hackers! We use Social Engineering to get information or access from people which will help us break into and control our clients’ computer systems. Social Engineering is the act of posing as something you’re not and getting people to believe you enough to get confidential information from them! One of our Senior Security Specialists (Ethical Hackers) will be showing you what Social Engineering is, why it works, and will share a real life example with you.
