Health & Transitions-RPN

This course is designed to help Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) students explore the profession of nursing in the context of Canadian healthcare. Learning will focus around the concept of health and the determinants of health at the level of individuals, families, groups, and communities. The impact of health transitions, non-complex predictable chronic illnesses, disabilities, and/or death/dying throughout the life span will be discussed. The ways in which nursing practice can support individuals and families during those health transitions will be explored. Students will also be introduced to the basic concepts of research in nursing, and how to participate as a professional in the collection of nursing research data.
