Defining Abnormal

This course will examine the historical background of abnormal psychology as well as various psychological disorders and pathologies. In this course students will learn theoretical perspectives associated with maladaptive behavior as well as classifications and assessments related to psychological factors and symptoms. In particular, the course will examine anxiety disorders, mood disorders, personality disorders, schizophrenia and other psychotic disorders, eating disorders, sexual disorders, sleep disorders, dissociative disorders, and somatoform disorders. Finally, students will learn about different treatment options.
