    This program is designed to meet the challenges of management in an industrial environment. Graduates will learn specific aspects of industrial management in cost management, principles of industrial supervision, logistics management,
    business concepts and interpersonal skills for leadership. This program gives graduates analytical skills to prepare for careers in the industrial management field.

    MGMT-3023 Contemporary Issues in Human Relations 3
    This course is designed to provide a conceptual framework for handling the diverse and complex human relations problems that characterize business and industries. Students will examine theories and research data pertaining to human relations issues. Topics include: empowering employees, and to handle confrontations that grow from race, gender, sexual orientation, age and emotional differences that often emerge when organizations experience change.
    MGMT-3010 Leadership in Organizations 3
    Management is a dynamic discipline full of rewards and challenges. Students preparing for a management position need to understand the broad dimensions that such a position will encompass. This introductory course is intended to better prepare the business student for the significant changes that are taking place while managing an organization in the 21st Century. This course will focus on the basic four-function approach of being a manager also incorporating the various aspects of organization theory.
    MGMT-1152 Principles of Supervision 3
    In this course students will have a clear understanding of an approach to effective industrial supervision and skills required to implement this approach. Topics include communications, employee motivation, supervisory leadership, administering the collective agreement, handing grievances, performance appraisal, employee training and development and effective use of supervisory time.
    BUSI-1005 Introduction to Business Processes 3
    This course explores the various functional areas of business in Canada and demonstrates the interrelationship among these areas. Students are introduced to many concepts, including major business trends, the role of government in business, marketing, operations, employee-management issues, financial resources management, business ethics and social responsibility.
    HLTH-1102 Occupational Health & Safety 3
    This course will provide students with an overview of safety and risk management principles. Topics include responsibilities of firms and employees, economic impact of loss control, ergonomics, workplace hazards assessment, accident prevention, workplace violence and harassment, WHMIS, WSIB Act, and the Occupational Health & Safety Act of Ontario. This course is HRPA approved and is required to write the Comprehensive Knowledge Exam 1 (CKE1) and/or the Comprehensive Knowledge Exam 2 (CKE2). These exams are part of the attainment of the externally accredited entry level Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) designation (CKE1) and/or the advanced level Certified Human Resources Leader (CHRL) designation (CKE2), respectively. You must achieve a minimum of 65% in any one of the nine CHRP/CHRL courses and an overall average of 70% in these nine courses to be eligible to write the CKE1 and/or CKE 2.     MGMT-3017 Quality Assurance Program & Techniques 3
    You will learn about the various Quality Assurance Programs that are currently being implemented by businesses. This course will enhance your understanding about how Quality Assurance programs are managed and the techniques used in ensuring a quality system.

    MGMT-6020 Project Management 3
    In today's competitive business environment project management skills must include the ability to deliver projects on time, on budget, and to the satisfaction of the customer. The purpose of this introductory course is to examine the general principles, practices, tools, and resources associated with managing a diversity of workplace projects.
    MGMT-3042 Training & Development 3
    Students will learn how to identify training needs, develop and evaluate training programs, and training delivery techniques. Students will be required to design and facilitate a training session in class. In addition, students will learn about the importance of training programs and how they contribute to the corporate well being and development of an organization and its employees.     COMM-6002 Organizational Business Communication 3
    This course provides an overview of important communication concepts and skills required in business. Topics covered include: writing clear reports and documentation, making effective presentations, and fostering interpersonal skills. NOTE: Final exam must be completed in class.
    MGMT-6023 Managing the Age of Change 3
    This course will combine the theoretical perspectives on leading change with concrete change experiences. Students will learn how to assist with leading people through the change process, from initiation through implementation. They will be able to articulate some of the theories, models and concepts which guide current efforts to implement change and have a chance to practice using them through course assignments.
    MGMT-3049 Skills for Managing People 3
    This is a skill-oriented course designed to assist managers in the application of current human relations' concepts and principles. Topics covered include: conducting performance appraisals and disciplinary interviews, managing conflict, negotiating, management behaviour styles and on-the-job coaching and development.
    COMP-3077 Excel for Business-Adv 3
    Modern spreadsheet programs perform far beyond simple number crunching. The functionality of Microsoft Excel continues to move the application into new venues such as visual interactive data presentations or sales proposals. Given the now commonplace nature of the program, it is crucial that all business minded professionals have a comprehensive knowledge of MS Excel. Upon successful completion of this curriculum, students will be trained in MS Excel 2016 for MOS (Microsoft Office Specialist) expert level Excel certification. MOS testing is available at certified testing centers across Canada.
