This course is designed to help students prepare for success on the IELTS test (6+ score). In each five-week block, students will learn skills and strategies to improve their reading, writing, listening, and speaking abilities. In the last week of each block, students will complete a practice IELTS test and receive detailed feedback about their performance. Students may register for both blocks of the course, or choose just one block. Students wishing to take this course should be at a high intermediate or advanced level of English. The online portion uses commercially-available IELTS preparation software.
Hours: 4 hours per week (students will be encouraged to do self-directed on-line practice) for 10 weeks (delivered in two 5-week blocks) = 40 hours total.
Fees: $500 for both blocks, or $250 for one 5-week block.
The deadline to register for Block 2 is November 10, 2020.

Taking the IELTS test
Fanshawe College offers a location to write the test, but our staff does not administer it. Students wishing to take the test at Fanshawe must specify it as the writing location on their application. Representatives from Conestoga College will administer the IELTS test at Fanshawe.
To register for the IELTS test, you will need:
- Photo ID (Passport or Permanent Resident Card);
- Pay online or payment by form (credit card (Visa or Mastercard), money order or certified cheque payable to Conestoga College).
The test fee for the IELTS test is $309 (including HST).
