This program is available to international students only for 2023/24.

This two-year (four-semester) program is designed for international college or university graduates from any field or discipline.

Fanshawe's Business Management program will develop and enhance skills in general management, leadership, human resources, finance and sales and marketing.

The program will provide opportunities for experiential learning through case study analysis as well as a community consultancy project.

Office Manager
Organize business operations, procedures and overall maintenance. An office manager might have an administrative team to which they assign duties and manage tasks.

Community Manager
Help organizations build and grow their online presence. Analyze online usage using analytical tools that look at what current clients are saying about the company. Community managers help to develop a strategic plan for starting or increasing online community usage through social media.

Account Executive
Acquiring new clients and maintaining relationships through customer service. Build and maintain relationships by providing excellent customer service on behalf of the organization. The account executive is often the point of contact between the team and the client.

Business Consultant

Provide strategic advice to small/medium and large businesses or community organizations to improve financial outcomes, operational efficiencies, and future outlook. A business consultant is highly engaged and helps organizations meet the needs of multiple stakeholders: customers, employees, managers, suppliers, and governmental agencies.

Marketing Manager
In this leadership position, the marketing manager overseas many aspects of the marketing discipline including advertising, sales, product/service launch, distribution channels, etc. The marketing manager utilizes networking opportunities to create win-win relationships.

HR Manager

The HR manager is responsible for the recruiting, performance management, and succession planning of employees/managers in various organizations. Today’s employers have ever-changing needs, and the HR manager helps to create an innovative workforce capable of adapting to any business climate.

Project Coordinator

Whether it is a small-scale project or an enterprise-wide initiative, the project coordinator leads cross-functional teams to successfully implement change in an organization. The project coordinator obtains the necessary budget, resources, and support from employees and managers in all levels of the organization to carry out transformational projects.

Business Systems Analyst
The business systems analyst has proficient technical skills to help organizations gather large quantities of data. The analyst evaluates the data and provides user-friendly reports with relevant information to help managers and directors make the most optimal decisions for their organizations.

  1. Interpret, record, and apply financial information to the preparation of basic financial statements and to support financial decision-making;
  2. Select and utilize appropriate tools and technologies to complete a range of management analyses and practices;
  3. Research and analyze business situations to develop business solutions and policies, practices, or procedures that respond to the needs of the organization;
  4. Formulate and apply strategies for leadership and personnel management based on best practices in human resources and organizational behaviour to establish and maintain effective workplace environments;
  5. Analyze a marketing situation and develop appropriate advertising recommendations and sales promotion strategies;
  6. Compare and contrast various pricing strategies and their effects on sales and profits;
  7. Conduct meetings and make formal presentations employing effective public speaking skills and techniques;
  8. Complete all work according to relevant and accepted business ethics and legislation and within the scope of corporate responsibility;
  9. Plan, implement, and evaluate projects using project management principles and tools;
  10. Engage in research activities to critically assess current management practices and trends;
  11. Develop and use strategies for ongoing professional development to enhance work performance and explore career opportunities in a Canadian and global workplace.

A Two- or Three-Year College Diploma, or a Degree
OR
Acceptable combination of related work experience and post-secondary education as judged by the College to be equivalent to the above*
OR
Five years of work experience in the management field

This course applies the principles of professional communication in the Canadian industry. It explores intercultural communication and the characteristics of diverse worldviews. Students will identify issues involved in communications and global diversity, and develop necessary skills to create professional documents that adhere to Canadian standards. Through presentations, case studies and thematic readings, students will learn written, verbal and nonverbal skills that are essential to business management, while maintaining sensitivity to issues involving geographic, cultural, gender and ability diversity. Throughout the course, students will work both individually and in groups to build their knowledge and skills needed to demonstrate professional communication within Canadian businesses.
FINA-6025Financial Analysis & Management4
This course provides students with a comprehensive overview of financial analysis and management principles/practices. This course is intended to prepare general business managers for decision making in day-to-day operations, while developing their understanding to effectively use key financial statements that Canadian businesses rely on. Students will use cases to compare firms, as well as to analyze past and current performance in order to make decisions regarding present and future cash flow within a company. Working capital and sources of financing (long and short-term) will be explored in detail.

This course introduces students to the principles and practices of managing people and Canadian organizations. This course is built around four key components of management: leading, planning, organizing and controlling. The course examines the challenges managers face within an organization. Students will use experiential learning tools to explore and analyze the function of structure and process within a company and to develop internal resources for leading and planning.
MGMT-6137Management in Human Resources4
In this course, students will explore the strategic role of the human resources management professional within the Canadian industry. They will examine various innovative organizational goals and strategic objectives used by Human Resource professionals in Canadian businesses, and they will be prepared to train and develop, recruit and select the future members of their teams. This course will cover topics such as performance management, employment legislation, planning, and career development. Students will gain hands-on experience and apply their knowledge and understanding of HR management by critically analyzing and proposing revisions to a human resources strategy and plan.

Leaders are individuals who direct and influence others towards achieving goals within a business. In this course, students will learn about leadership styles that inspire, innovate, and motivate workers within Canadian businesses. By understanding and learning to apply methods through integrated case-based study, students will gain hands-on experience and a methodology of leadership. This course emphasizes the role of credibility, common purpose, effective feedback, and ethics, in order to develop powerful leadership methods that can be applied throughout various organizations. It explores the values and visions of Canadian organizations and trains students to build leadership skills and the insight and judgement necessary to make a significant impact on the operational effectiveness of an organization.
DEVL-6025Canadian Workplace Preparation 13
This course will stress the essential employability skills needed to begin a professional career in the business industry. Throughout this course, students will develop a professional image as it is an integral element to their career success. Students will develop a personal career portfolio suitable for employment in the Canadian workplace. A wide range of career-specific topics will be discussed to enhance the students' ability to gain successful employment and increase their understanding of the importance of developing a career strategy. Emphasis will be on social media management and communication skills relevant to the job market.
