Mentees

  • Complete the mentee application form in September 
  • The InSPIRE Mentoring Team will process applications on a weekly basis to review for potential matches
  • You will receive an email by mid-October informing you of the status of your application
  • Availability of matches is dependent upon mentor registration in any given year
  • Attendance at a mandatory virtual orientation session is required to be eligible to receive a match
  • Commit to meeting with a mentor for a minimum of 10 hours from October to April
  • If a match is available, you will receive a match introduction email from the InSPIRE Mentoring Team
  • You are expected to initiate contact with your mentor within 48 hours of receiving the introduction email
  • Arrange initial meeting with your mentor at a mutually agreed upon time and format (virtual, email and phone meetings ONLY at this time)
  • Develop personal career development goals, in the form of a “Goals Contract”, which will direct the focus of your mentoring relationship
  • Communicate with your mentor if meetings need to be rescheduled
  • Submit your completed goals contract to the InSPIRE Mentoring Team at inspirementoring@fanshawec.ca
  • Receive invitations to attend events with your mentor and participate in contests throughout the year 
  • You are expected to communicate with the InSPIRE Mentoring Team if you have any questions or concerns about your match or your involvement in the program
  • Reflect on your mentorship experience and the outcome of the goals you identified in your “Goals Contract” at the end of the April
  • Apply for Co-Curricular Record recognition after completing 10 hours with your mentor
  • If you are not matched with a mentor, you will receive invitations to all InSPIRE Mentoring events and will be encouraged to participate in the Build Your Own Experience option

 

**Due to the competitive nature of this program, mentees who do not initiate contact with their mentor, attend scheduled meetings or follow through with commitments may be removed from the program. The InSPIRE Mentoring Team can end a match if necessary and at their discretion.**

Mentors

  • Complete the mentor registration form
  • The InSPIRE Mentoring Team will process applications on a weekly basis to review for potential matches
  • Mentor applications are welcomed year round, however match introductions are made starting in September
  • Commit to meeting with your mentee for a minimum of 10 hours between October to April
  • Receive an email from the InSPIRE Mentoring Team by mid-October to provide a match introduction or alternative ways to be involved with the program
  • Your mentee is expected to initiate contact with you within 48 hours of receiving the introduction email
  • Meet with your mentee at a mutually agreed upon time and format (virtual, email and phone meetings ONLY at this time)
  • Support your mentee in developing personal career development goals, in the form of a “Goals Contract”, which will direct the focus of the mentoring relationship
  • Share your experiences and provide guidance and support to your mentee through conversations, mock interviews, resume reviews, job shadows (virtual or in person), attending networking events, etc.
  • Communicate with your mentee if meetings need to be rescheduled
  • Contact the InSPIRE Mentoring Team at inspirementoring@fanshawec.ca with questions or concerns about your match, including suggestions for topics of discussion or other ways to support your mentee
  • Receive invitations to attend InSPIRE Mentoring events with your mentee and to participate in contests throughout the year
  • Provide feedback to the InSPIRE Mentoring Team about your experience, program improvements, or testimonials
