About me:
My name is Anthony, I have an Honors Specialization Degree in Media Studies with a Minor in Film Studies and a post graduate certificate in Advanced Filmmaking. I started at the Institute of Indigenous Learning in 2016 and enjoy working with others as I film and create content that positively influences people and represents the students and the department in a positive way. I am a creative person and enjoy writing music, filmmaking, and shooting photography. One thing most people know about me is blink-182 is my favourite band - ever!
You may not always see me as I’ll be in another office editing or filming an interview but I’m always around. I may even do an interview with you someday, who knows!?

Availability:
Availability is flexible and based on and around events, other people’s schedules, and my own.
What I help with:
I am responsible for creating Indigenous video content (web series, podcasts, etc.) for the Institute of Indigenous Learning YouTube channel and other social media platforms. I create educational content, share what our department offers to future and current students and present a positive representation of Indigenous culture.

Brian Malott

About me:
My name is Brian Malott. I grew up in a small town and eventually attended Conestoga College where I studied Career Development after discovering a passion for coaching people to help them with their own career path. I ended up doing an internship which eventually led me to Fanshawe College in a part-time role where I have been ever since.
Availability:
Monday to Friday: 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 pm and by appointment after-hours.
What I help with:
My job is multi-faceted; I help students figure out what kind of career they want to pursue based on skills, personality and overall fit. I also help students connect to the "working world" by building professional development skills: writing resumes, building employer connections and helping take what you have learned in school to apply it in your future career.

Natalie Fletcher
Indigenous Student Success Manager
About me:
Hi, my name is Natalie Fletcher and I am the Indigenous Student Success Manager. I am a member of Caldwell First Nation and I lived much of my life in Rodney.
I am a graduate of Fanshawe College’s Developmental Services Worker Program and I went to Brock University as a mature student to complete my Bachelor of Aboriginal Adult Education and a Bachelor of Education degree. I also graduated from Western University with a Master of Professional Education.
I started at the Institute of Indigenous Learning (IIL) in 2019. The staff of IIL are amazing! I am honoured to work with such a great group of people.
I am a huge fan of Broadway musicals and I enjoy reading and traveling in my spare time.
I look forward to working and learning with you this year.

Kristen Longdo

What I help with:
Kristen is here to help you succeed in your academics. Kristen can discuss program pathways, transfers, or changing programs. Kristen can also assist with course selection or program withdrawals as well as financial applications such as bursaries, OSAP, etc. Kristen's focus is creating success plans with students focusing on academic goals and supporting students throughout their post-secondary education.

Kasey is available to students who are transitioning to Fanshawe. She can assist with financial applications such as bursaries, OSAP, First Nation Sponsorship, etc. Kasey also helps locate classrooms, talk to professors, assist with school work, time management and budget plans. Basically, everything a new student needs help with when they arrive at Fanshawe!

About me:
Rochelle Smith graduated from Fanshawe College’s Business Marketing Program in 2013. She is from Chippewas of the Thames First Nation, born and raised. Rochelle’s unique blend of knowledge, cultural understanding, and relationship-building gives her an innate ability to foster good relationships, partnerships and collaborations for student success.
Rochelle understands the importance of establishing trust and rapport, particularly when working with Indigenous communities and stakeholders. Her respectful and inclusive approach allows her to effectively communicate and engage with people, creating an environment of mutual understanding and cooperation. She understand how impactful post secondary can be, and is here to help assist First Nations, Métis and Inuit students through out their academic endeavors.

Rochelle focuses on recruitment and relationship building. She visits high schools, communities and employment centres. Assists with the application process to Fanshawe College and can assist with financial applications. She is knowledgeable in a lot of program offerings, assists with career exploration and, similar to the transition advisors, is available to help students with their transition to Fanshawe. Rochelle is often the student’s first point of contact with the college, and we want to ensure students know someone upon arrival at college.

Victoria Tsakos is a graduate of Fanshawe College’s Social Service Worker Program (2019) and King’s University College’s Bachelor of Social Work (Honours) Program (2023). Victoria was born and raised in London, ON, and is a member of Mohawks of the Bay of Quinte (Tyendinaga First Nation).

Victoria’s education and experience working in the areas of Indigenous education and employment informs her understanding of the multifaceted obstacles Indigenous individuals encounter when pursuing higher education and building careers, coupled with an appreciation for the unique strengths and resilience that they possess and bring to learning environments, industries, and communities. Victoria is passionate about Indigenous representation and success in education and beyond.
Victoria works closely with Rochelle Smith, focusing on culturally informed recruitment and relationship building. Victoria is a first point of contact for First Nations, Métis and Inuit individuals who are exploring the possibilities of education at Fanshawe College. Victoria also collaborates with First Nations, Métis, and Inuit communities, organizations, and support persons, fostering a circle of support aimed at assisting individuals with career-track education and their transition to college.
