SPP Withdrawal Information

Information about Withdrawal from Fanshawe College

For

Students in the Student Partnership Program (India)

Students who are admitted to Fanshawe College under the Student Partnership Program are expected to register in the program to which they were admitted and to complete the semester for which they have paid tuition.

The College recognizes, however, that there are some unforeseen circumstances in which a student may be allowed to withdraw (leave Fanshawe) and receive a refund of their tuition fees.

No refunds will be approved after the 10th day of classes in any semester. No refunds will be approved unless the student meets either condition 1. or 2. described below.

 1. Withdrawal before reaching Canada

If you decide not to study in Canada, or if your application for a Canadian Study Permit (Student Visa) is denied by the Government of Canada, you may receive a full-refund of any fees paid, minus $250. You must apply for a refund before or during the first ten days of class of the semester to which you were admitted.

2. Withdrawal after reaching Canada

Students who receive a Canadian Study Permit (Student Visa) and reach Canada may apply for a refund provided that:

(a)   They have admission to another Canadian public college or university for the semester to which they were admitted to Fanshawe. (A list of approved colleges is available at www.accc.ca. A list of approved universities is available at www.aucc.ca). A letter of admission to another college/university is required prior to the refund deadline (10 days after the beginning of classes in any semester). As soon as a copy of the letter of admission to another approved college or university is received and authenticated by Fanshawe College, a refund of fees will be authorized.

OR

(b)   The student gives up his/her student status in Canada and returns to India. In this case the student will be required to provide the College with proof of return to India (e.g., boarding pass and airline ticket with confirmed dates). A refund will be sent after the confirmed exit of the student from Canada.

Students who withdraw give up their admission to the College and their status as students at Fanshawe. Information about students who withdraw will be reported to Citizenship and Immigration Canada and Canadian Border Services. A student who withdraws and who later wishes to return to Fanshawe College must re-apply for admission.

All Students who withdraw must return their Student Identity Card, their London Transit Card and their Health Insurance Card (if received) to the International Office (E-2025).

Withdrawal Procedures

Students who meet criteria (a) or (b) above may receive a refund of fees paid if they apply in writing to do so. The application must be received by the College before the 11th day of classes. The Application for Student Withdrawal form is available at the International Office (E-2025), Oxford Street Campus.

Amount of Refund

As soon as the College is provided with documentation that a student meets either condition (a) or (b), a refund of fees will be authorized.  All fees that the student has paid to Fanshawe will be refunded except the mandatory application fee of $100, a withdrawal fee of $900, and a $100. Homestay Application fee (if paid). Therefore, most students who meet either condition (a) or (b) will receive a refund of all the fees that they paid to Fanshawe minus $1,000. Students who have chosen any of the Fanshawe Care services including any one of pick up from bus or airport in London and/or accommodation will pay an additional $400.  Any costs that the College incurs in refunding the fees will also be deducted from the refund.

Method of Refund

All refunds will be refunded to the person, financial institution, or agency which originally paid the fees to Fanshawe College. For example, if the fees were originally sent to Fanshawe College by a financial institution (bank), or the student’s parents or agent, the funds will be returned to that source.

All funds will be returned using the same financial instrument by which they were received by the College (e.g., via wire transfer, bank draft, cheque/money order, credit card refund). Students who withdraw must inform the College in writing if there have been any changes to the banking information provided by the person, agent, or financial institution that paid the fees. The College bears no responsibility for funds that go astray due to inaccurate or obsolete financial information.

Refunds will be processed after all required documents are received and normally take four to six weeks.

Deferral

Students who defer to the next intake forgo the right to take a fee refund in the next intake. All fees remain with Fanshawe College.

SPP students: students applying under SPP India can transfer only to other SPP colleges.
